Entry from: Bluff, New Zealand Entry Title: "Southern Tip" Entry: "As south as I've ever been, and as wet as I've ever slept. That's the only way to describe my time in the small town Bluff, just ten minutes from Invercargill. Bluff is at the absolute southern tip of the south island. It's the closest you can get to Antarctica in the Eastern hemisphere. Well.... Bluff looks out onto Stewert Island, which is technically part of New Zealand and technically closer. But I didn't go there, so we're pretending it doesn't exist. (On that note, please ignore the giant island in the background of some of this entry's pictures). We arrived in Bluff under less-than-auspicious weather conditions. The clouds brooded over us as we parked. They spat at us like llamas as we started walking the trail to Bluff's southern point; and you know how Buddy feels about llamas. But the salivating clouds held off for our entire trek out to the tip. Visibility wasn't great, but I was impressed nonetheless. I've never been so south in my entire life, and I may never get more south than Bluff ever. A milestone moment. We hiked back to the van, not wanted to get drenched, but the rain still didn't come.
